It was 2006 and I was in Wilmington, NC, having no idea what I would paint that day. My former sister-in-law suggested I go to Hugh MacRae Park where I would find all kinds of ducks and geese running around. I did as she suggested. I proceeded to paint the ducks and geese. I was accustomed to painting things in motion, as I had painted with watercolors many musicians as they were performing.
Down the hill, I noticed some sort of venue. Chairs, columns and ferns had been set up for what looked like an event, either past or present. Some women about my age sat down in a couple of the chairs.
